Pho Yum!

Sorry I haven't posted anything in awhile, it was pretty hectic here. So tonight's dinner was pho. You know, Vietnamese soup...pretty popular now. I had a soup concentrate of it so I didn't really have to make it...(thank goodness) I wasn't sure of the smell of the broth..but when everything came together...yum! Here is a look at our dinner tonight.

I'm pretty sure you can use this for anything if you choose, but should really go the normal route. So the back says you'll need the following:

  • 1 Cup Rice Noodles (cheaper to get them at an asian store...a lot cheaper) (plus I used more then a cup since I used the whole base)
  • 4-6 oz of cooked chicken (I did lots more)
  • 2 Cups Soup Starter Pho (whole thing to feed 3.5 people)
  • and your Condiments: Bean Sprouts, Lime wedges, cilantro, jalapeno, green onions, hoisin (is a must), fresh basil...
Pretty much you want to heat base in a sauce pan add chicken to heat through...add rice noodles..then done. Add your condiments. Yum!

My chicken looked like a t-bone steak

Finished Product + a side of tomatos..fresh from market

Good Night!

Nail Polish Jewelry

So today I made some nail polish jewelry. What is that you ask? Well I'll show you.
I found this craft on You Tube, and I couldn't wait to try it. The things you'll need are...

  1. Large Accent Clear Gems
  2. Clear Nail Polish
  3. Any color polish you'd like to use

Now you can get these gems at the Dollar Tree - same with the polish's. Don't need anything fancy. I just had these on hand.
First you need to take the bottom of the gem and paint it with clear polish. You want it flat, no bumps. Evening it out basically. So let that dry and in the meantime you can either do a few...or plan the colors you'd like to use for the next step.
Now take a color you'd like to use. For example I used a gold glitter. Painted two layers, then painted over the gold with pink. After that layer is dried paint again with clear. You'd want to wait a day to be able to do anything with them. You want the polish to completely dry. I knew it wasn't fully dried and I gave one to my two year old daughter. Oh boy...she peeling some back, made her sad. :) Mommy fixed it and told her tomorrow she can play with it. She calls it her jewelry. She was super excited, made me a very happy momma. But back to the other things, you can do whatever design you'd like. When it's good to go, you can make it into a ring..or necklace. Whatever you want. When I get my ring things I will post how it came out. Have fun!

Ice Cream Sandwiches?!

Yup. I made oatmeal raisin cookies the other day, had a few left.  I decided on ice cream sandwich cookies. So this is what I made for dessert yesterday. Pretty much took my cookies and put some yummy Ben and Jerry's Greek Fro Yo Blueberry with graham cracker crumbs swirl? Tasted pretty good. Hope you all stay cool today and the rest of summer :)

Summer Flowery Nails!

So yesterday I did my nails...which I don't do often only because...I bite them. Yup...so I'm hoping this will help me stop - plus I think it's cute.
So if you are interested in how I did it, this time I took pictures of the steps. I will explain carefully - although it was pretty easy.

First you need the following:

  • Avon's Speed Dry Clear Polish
  • Revlon's Top Speed in Bubble
  • Nail Art Yellow Stripper Polish
  • Larger Nail Art Tool
  • Medium Nail Art Tool
Now you can you use your own colors, I choose these.

So I painted all my nails but my thumb pink...

Then I let them dry for a bit, I got the medium nail took...dipped it in yellow. Started doing polka dots. Doesn't matter how big or small or even how many, I just randomly placed them.

After those dried a bit I added a clear polish on top. Now I waited til fully dried so I can do the flowery thumb. It was harder to do one hand then the other, but it didn't turn out so bad. On the thumb I took the large tool, dipped in yellow. I centered the best I could on my thumb and placed the yellow dot. Let dry for a bit, then take the medium tool...dip in pink. I did a stipple motion (dotting and some dragging) to make the petals of the flowers. I did 6 petals for my flowers, when they dried I applied the clear polish again.

Finish product!!!

I hope you enjoyed - have a nice day!!!

Paint Drip Nails

So a few weeks ago I did my mothers nails. (She is the only one with long nails) I got this idea from CutePolish. (I will put a link for their videos down below) So the point of this for your nails to look like it's dripping, the paint that is. I didn't do pictures for each step, but the end result. First thing you should do is put base coat on your nails. After they dried I put on a matte nail poish. It's a clear polish that goes on shiny, but dries with no shine. Pretty cool, right? Next I used nail art tools, but you can make your own tools with everyday items. (I will also put a link down below) I used a big dotting tool to make 3 long drips of paint on her nails, then a smaller one to connect them all with curved lines. Then just fill in the empty spots then lastly put a top coat only on the paint. So when it all dries the paint is shiny like wet paint.

Sadly I didn't think to take the pictures upside down - but upright they looks like guitars.

I tried it on my daughter, she did okay as I did them...sadly had to take them off.

Here are the dotting tools, they are worth if you can find it at a good price. Luckily, I purchased mine at 2.00. $.99 for the tools, $.99 for shipping @ Amazon.

Here is CutePolish YouTube links:
You can search for the paint dripping and you can also search for the tools
Good luck and most importantly have fun!!!

Welcome! What this is all about!

Hello, this name has changed. Before I was called Hope's Wonders. It was a temporary name til I really came up with mine. My new one is me...Inside the Kitchen of a Lazy Jewish Housewife. I won't always be talking about things within the kitchen. Though in my home a lot of my crafts are done in the kitchen...it's like my unofficial office. I have make up reviews, some tutorials, different cooking ideas, some recipes. I'll have a mixture of travels as well and family related stories. So I hope you enjoy my blog and let me know anything like questions, comments or even concerns!!
