August Glam Bag!!

So finally I get my August Ipsy Glam bag...and I'm in love!!! I think this month...my third month but so far the best for me. I got a lot of things that when I looked up, are worth far more then the cost of the bag a month. Remember these glam bags are just $10 dollars a month. Free shipping and no tax, just that $10.  Here are the products that came inside my Ipsy bag: MICA Beauty Shimmer Powder in Bronze, Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub,  Pixi Lash Booster Mascara,Chella Dazzling Dark Brown Brow Pencil, Kosher Noya Cherry Lip Balm.

So here is the Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub. I've been hearing good things about Michael Todd True Organics. Although I hear it's only available online at the moment. When I went to their website I saw that this scrub they sell the 100 ml online for $18...this one I have is only 30 but still pretty good pricing. Can't wait to try it later today.
Next here is the Noya Kosher Cherry Lip Balm. I have never really seem cosmetics of any kind tell me that they are Kosher. I even saw a stamp all in Hebrew on the back...interesting. I haven't heard much things about this balm, but I did try it. Now I'm not much for the flavored things...(I tend to lick or bite it off) this one was different. It wasn't greasy and it was pretty creamy I guess? Anyways, I've never seen this in stores so this might be another product only online at this time. I believe I saw $3.50 for this?

This right here is Pixi Lash Booster Mascara. Now I have just gotten into Mascara maybe a few months ago. My mother tried to tell me about it, but I never really knew how to put it on I guess. I was afraid of the wand. Ha. But after what I saw after I put it on...never again will I go without. So...anyways back to the product. I won't be opening this for sometime with my vast mascara collection...but let me know if this stuff is awesome. I mean when I looked into it, this retails for $17....really?
Here is Chella brow pencil in Dazzling Dark Brown . First of all...my lovely kitties paw are in the background. He wanted to see what I was doing. Ha. Second Chella...I've gotten Chella before as a highlighting pencil...which I loved. Although a brow pencil is something I don't really need. I got thick brows so I'm giving this to my mother. I looked it up and retail pricing is $18, hope she likes it.
Lastly we have Mica Beauty Cosmetics Shimmer Powder 17 Bronze  I have actually heard of Mica Beauty but never thought I would actually get it. I mean this retails for $14.95, but I think so far its worth it. I heard Mica brands are very pigmented and they were right. So thanks whoever told me about that. Ha.

So that is it inside my Glam Bag. If you'd like to join me on ipsy and subscribe to the Glam Bag! You get 4-5 beauty products every month delivered to your door, for just $10. Michelle Phan curates the bags! Check it out here: http://www.ipsy.com/?refer=u-hazl8j0127ec57b

Have a nice day...afternoon or night. Leave comments below if you have ever tried some of this stuff. Bye!

Taste Testing : Birds Nest

So this drink called Birds Nest...or White Fungus Bird’s Nest Drink...is supposed to be healthy. I will put down those benefits soon. First let me just tell you about this drink.

Here it is..the can that is.
You can get this at your local asian market for only like $1.00.

Now birds nest (not the drink) is pretty much spit from this bird called the South Asian Swiftlet. They weave their spit into nest. These nest are very expensive in asia..well probably all over the world. Yet this can of birds nest is only 1.00. When you look at the ingredients there is only a little big of this birds nest. (So blurry...)
When you also take a look at the ingredients you see white fungus which I believe is used for thickening it and white fungus is the chunks in this drink. Alright, I know by now all you out there are asking..."now why the hell would I drink this stuff...you are making it sounds soooo gross!" I saw so many videos on YouTube about this and they all hated it, but I still thought it was very interesting. It's for all those dare devils out there. When I first opens this can it smelled a lot like cream soda. You know that vanilla smell...when I first took a drink, again to me it tasted like cream soda. Not the light refreshing side I suppose. More of the taste and that's all. I drank maybe half, and my husband took two sips and was done. He hated it. Ha. It was okay for me, I wouldn't drink it on a daily basis nor would I buy it again.
Here is what it looks like, see the floaties? I believe that is the white fungus. When you pour it out, its very syrupy. Try it and let me know down below.

Here are what I read about it's health benefits:
So I hear usually and traditionally edible birds nest is in soups, but now it's almost in everything. From food to drinks to even cosmetics. For about 1.000 years, the Chinese have eaten birds nest in a soup. They have considered it to have high nutritional and medicinal value. From anti-aging to anti-cancer, also to raise libido? Hm? Interesting stuff right?

Saturday Farmer's Market

Hey everyone! I can not believe it's been like 10 days since I last posted. I'm so sorry. Things been pretty hectic around here that time just flew by without me realizing it. So yesterday my family and I went to another farmers market. This time it was about 45 minutes away...but it's well worth it. It's the Urbana Farmer's Market here in Illinois :) We picked up a few things...example...A HUGE Zucchini. You'll see the picture..but wholly molly...and to top it off it only cost 2 dollars?! No way, right? Ha.
This market is a lot different from the ones where we live. For one thing, it huge. I guess that is only thing different. Along with it being huge, it has different foods. You got your usual's like tomatoes right? Well they go farther with different kinds. Kinds I've never heard before, I tried taking pictures of some of the names but they were so busy. Some of the names were 'Aunt Ruby's German Green' and 'Japanese Black Trifele'. I don't think we grabbed any of the weird names. Should have right?
Some other things they have my market doesn't is salad greens, kale, leeks, different potatoes, raspberries and some stone fruits. Now skip over to other products other then produce, they got cheeses, ice creams and meats. Oh my. This is my first time going this year and I miss it so much. Hope I can go back next weekend.

   The HUGE    Zucchini

We got the red tomatoes...the picture to the right. Very yummy. What will we do with them...*ponders*

We got both of these, didn't know I got the Japanese one. Can't wait to make a sandwich out of these. Will be interesting. Same with the picture on the right. What are some idea's to make with some fresh tomatoes? Got any? Comment down below.

Apples - can't go wrong with these. Plus they had tiny ones for my daughter. Then over to the right is honey sticks. Have any of you all had these? They are very good. I love the vanilla chai - but my daughter get's the fruity ones like grape. Only .25. Not bad for a little snack as you stroll the market.

Hope your weekend was pretty good, no bad weather I hope. Hope to post more soon!!

Here lies Nemo...

So yea..my daughter "won" a goldfish from the festival this weekend. I'm no stranger to the fact they don't live long...but if you care for them right they can. I thought I was doing good. He survived two days...died somewhere around say three. Thought I'd say a few words for him. I mean what can it really hurt :)

So here lies Nemo...or fish? She really couldn't pick a name for you...she's only 2. First your name was Fish from cat in the hat..then she really liked Nemo. She forgot about you, but I her mother took care of you for her. Fed you...changed your water..talked to you.

So to say the truth I was sad that you passed. Go one to fishy heaven. Goodbye Nemo/Fish.

Have a wonderful night, Ciao

Chicken Spring-rolls with peanut sauce

So for dinner tonight my hubby and I made chicken spring-rolls. So yummy. So I got this idea from different things. The sauce I make is taken partially from a biggest loser cookbook. The spring-rolls are just really common knowledge of things put into one. Now I wanted to have more ingredients...but I forgot them at the store. Going to a store with a 2 year old and an annoyed hubby is hard sometimes, right all you mommies? So let's get to it, the ingredients you will need are as follows: (You can use what you want as substitutes, I did)

Peanut Sauce:

  • 1 Tablespoons of Low-Sodium Soy Sauce (I only had regular - I ended up adding more sweeteners)
  • 1 Teaspoon Chili-Oil (I used Garlic Olive Oil)
  • 2-3 Teaspoons Sugar or other sweeteners (ex: Honey or Brown Sugar)
  • 1.5 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter
  • 1 Tablespoons of Rice Vinegar (Asian Aisle)
Cabbage Mixture

  • One Bag of Coleslaw Mix
  • 1-2 Tablespoon Stir-fry Sauce
Spring-Roll Extras

  • Spring Roll Wrapper (Asian Aisle)
  • Sliced Chicken (Grilled or Baked)
  • Diced Jalapenos (Optional)
  • Sliced Shiitake Mushrooms (Fresh or Dried)
  • Coleslaw Mix
  • Lettuce
So first to make this sauce. Take Soy Sauce and Sugar. Mix in a small bowl til combined. Next you take whichever oil you decided on, in my case garlic olive oil...mix in the soy sauce mixture. Now just add the peanut butter til smooth and finally the rice vinegar. Set aside.
Cabbage mixture is easy. Since cabbage or even coleslaw mix is hard - I ended up sauteing mine with a bit of stir-fry sauce just a bit to soften. Set aside.
Now to assemble! You will need to take you wrapper and dip into water to soften for maybe 30 seconds. Depends on how soft you want it. After the wrapper has soaked take it out and lay it on a plate or clean flat surface. I tore off some lettuce putting it on the wrapper and put some of the slaw mixture in side the lettuce. I sliced up some chicken placing it next on top. Following the mushroom slices and jalapenos. So your down right, well sort of. I hope most of you know how to wrap a burrito because that's basically what you do. Bring in the side then tuck and roll. Then finally dip and eat.

I hope you enjoy. Got questions? Let me know below in the comments. Goodnight!

(I'll post that later) Cantaloupe and my hubby got suckered in from a little girl to buy a habenero. Didn't get too many pictures sorry, not a lot went on this weekend. We had a festival so people wanted fatty foods versus yummy home grown stuff. And a here we go....
